This large manufacturer of computers and printers had an urgent need for digital transformation to support new business models and take advantage of available technologies such as AI, big data, and ML emerging in the business units. The current model had fragmented delivery teams and required alignment and oversight to successfully drive the BI transformation. They needed to align on a new strategy and governance model to provide direction and delivery consistency to sustain their BI transformation efforts and quickly support the development of new products and services.
itsoli implemented a governance model “in a box” to immediately operationalize governance while building a more comprehensive model. We defined its Charter and established the operating model including roles and responsibilities and key processes to efficiently run governance. The cross-functional BI governance was established as a federated effort and was successfully operationalized within weeks of inception. A common BI strategy including reference architecture and capabilities was developed and aligned with our client’s leadership and the business to ensure it met the requirements and provided value to the user. Additionally, itsoli developed a current state TCO as a basis to support a case for a large rationalization effort to improve the cost effectiveness of the program.
Results
Our customer now has a comprehensive BI governance model to ensure consistent delivery and results in support of their digital transformation. The new BI strategy promoted by itsoli has leadership and business stakeholder alignment to accelerate adoption and provide a cross functional federation focused on the success of the initiative. A Phase 2 rationalization effort was developed to understand current state TCO and gave our customer an opportunity to continue the improvement of the BI program by sizing the benefits of a new operating model in pursuit of the company’s digital transformation goals.
